What is LDNA™ ?

Learning DNA™ is the next generation of personalized student insights―created by educators to empower educators and students to maximize their learning potential.

It helps teachers understand how each student learns from a deep cultural perspective without adding busy work and get recommendations on how to engage each student to learn their best.

Who does LDNA™ benefit?

Students
When students understand themselves, they can transform their education.
A student’s Learning DNA™ helps them understand how they learn best and empowers them with their insights to have agency over their education.
Teachers
When teachers understand their students, they can teach more effectively.
We live in a time of unprecedented pressure and expectation on educators. We're here to help you understand how each student learns from a cultural lens that goes beyond race.
Parents
When parents understand their children, they can better support their learning.
The line between parent and teacher has blurred. With LDNA™, parents will better understand their child's learning preferences and be better equipped to support them.

Why does this matter?

Students bring their life experiences, beliefs, and existing knowledge to every interaction. This background dictates their unique Learning DNA™, and it is through this lens that we must be able to present education that resonates.

FAQ’s

Still have questions?
  • Who will this assessment truly serve?

Learning DNA™ is designed to include the voices, perspectives and lived experience of all students.

  • Why is the assessment marketed for ALL learners?

The conceptual framework was developed by Dr. Sameano Porchea Bond to include all learners by focusing on the unique lived experience of the most vulnerable students in the education system. By meeting these needs first, everyone in the system begins from an equitable stand-point.

  • What inspired this assessment?

Learning DNA™ was inspired by Tamar Huggins, the Founder of Tech Spark and Spark Plug. Through her passion and dedication towards revolutionizing the public education system, she dreamed of creating a more equitable landscape where students can become agents of change. The assessment provides an entry point for teachers, learners and caregivers to truly individualize the educational experience of each student.

  • What makes this assessment different from the rest?

Learning DNA™ is the next generation of personalized student insights―created by educators to empower educators and students to maximize their learning potential. There is no comparable assessment available in the education system that helps teachers understand how each student learns from a deep cultural perspective to engage each student to their highest potential.

  • How can I ensure my child/students’ authentic voice is captured?

Learning DNA™ has been developed by a Psychometrician to capture authentic voice through the process of extensive research and item writing. Each question has been intentionally developed to ensure validity, reliability and authenticity.

  • Who owns the data?

We believe in data transparency and data ownership for all our users. Spark Plug does not own student data; our students users own their own data.

  • How will the privacy of my child/student be handled?

Our platform is entirely cloud based. Our cloud providers, are PIPEDA and FERPA compliant. In addition, we do not retain any personal indetifable information.

  • Will this assessment marginalize students from majority populations?

When the voices and needs of the most marginalized students are prioritized, everyone in the classroom benefits. Instead of a colonial system that is rooted in competition and privilege, Learning DNA provides an equitable assessment tool that is intended to empower all students, starting with the most marginalized.

  • Is Spark Plug a for profit company?
